Dear Diary. Dated — 15 May 2024.

Highlights of my last week conversation with friends and colleagues…

“Can you believe that my manager has asked me to come to the office this entire week? No heads up at all. How shall I ever manage?”

“I have nothing to wear — none of my dresses matches this mask.”

“The next available slot is after ten days. Please visit Mc Donald’s for your Happy Meal.”

“Please book online consultations. Our doctors are available online for your convenience. Thank you for not visiting the hospital.”

“Zoom is down. Classes have been cancelled for next week.”

“Virtual travel is the next big hype. You should visit Italy. It is fantastic.”

“Car companies are refurbishing unused car seats into recliners. This is an untapped segment with quite a lot of potential.”

“Mom, get out of my room. I am on a Zoom date.”

“Everybody is a chef. Why did I waste money on culinary school? I could have just learnt from Youtube videos”

“Try my online Wellness class. I survived the entire week without any panic attacks.”

“You need to stock alcohol to be prepared for lockdown. Bars and wineries can close at any minute.”

“My boss and his daughter attended my yearly review. I got a negative review as I have never made his daughter feel welcome in our meetings.”

“Gloves and masks are critical. We were weird when we mistook these smart people as thieves and looters.”

“There were hundred people at her wedding. How scandalous!”

“Wedding News. Drive-thru weddings are legal in India.”

Hopefully, none of this will come true. We would all be vaccinated and COVID would be as serious as cold and cough. But, in the meantime, let’s laugh at the absurdity of our lives. I have done my part in cheering you up. Now, I gotta go. I am due for my weekly crying session. Buh-bye!
