Vacationing from home

I am at the peak of my happiness when I am travelling to a different country to experience the food (mostly), people, culture and new scenery. So, this Covid season when you are barred to even breathe freely, travelling for pleasure, eating out at a trendy cafe or strolling down lanes for a walk is a distant dream. I sobbed my eyes out for a week when our family trip was cancelled, add another couple of weeks for a half baked plan to London with my sister. Do not believe me? Read my gushings of a vacation that never happened.

I had convinced myself that this is a disappointing year and made a pact with my husband that we need not exchange gifts on our second year marriage anniversary. But, that stinking liar — not only he fooled me but also gave me the best present ever. You know that feeling, when you want to be mad at somebody but he is too nice and you fall in love again. Yeah!

Early morning yesterday, when I opened my curtains — this was the view out of my window. A Spanish street in the bustling city of Mumbai! A large canvas print of our honeymoon destination which was complemented with Churros and messages in Spanish to recreate our experience in Spain

Expecting the surprise to be over, I went into other rooms to find large prints of Paris, Florence where I had done a solo trip, and London — our next bucket list.

Louvre @ Paris

Big Ben @ London

Duomo @ Florence

The entire experience was complemented with dishes and drinks from these countries to placate my travel bug. It was one of the most romantic gestures and it made me feel giddy through out the day. This blog is dedicated to my thoughtful husband who can infuriate me, irritate me, pester me but always is beside me to make me feel loved, safe and happy. Happy marriage anniversary!
